Quotes labelled ‘full detail’ cover wildly different work, which is why prices vary by hundreds of dollars for something that sounds identical. Here is what ours involves, so you can compare like for like.

Exterior. The car is pre-rinsed and foamed so loose grit lifts off before a mitt goes near it. The contact wash uses clean media and two buckets. Then chemical decontamination pulls out iron fallout and tar, the bonded stuff a wash leaves behind that bleeds orange on white paint, and a clay stage takes whatever is still stuck to the clear coat.

Wheels and arches. Faces, barrels and arches, with separate equipment from the paintwork so brake dust never crosses over.

Interior. Vacuum everything, including under the seats and along the rails. Hot water extraction for carpets and cloth seats, steam for vents, switches and the tight spots a cloth cannot reach, and leather cleaned then conditioned with a product matched to its pH.

Finish. The last hour goes on glass, trim and the door shuts, then the paint is protected. That is a sealant for most cars, or a ceramic coating where you want it to last.

An engine bay is degreased, agitated, rinsed conservatively and dressed to a satin finish, with sensitive electronics protected first. It matters most at sale time, and it makes any future mechanical work considerably more pleasant.

Yellowed headlights age a car more than almost anything else and measurably reduce night-time output. We wet sand through grades, machine polish back to clarity, then apply UV protection. Without that last step the haze returns within months, because the original factory coating is exactly what failed.

A car that does school runs collects a specific kind of mess. Crumbs in the seat rails, sunscreen on the door cards, drink bottles that leaked into the carpet and dried, and the mystery stickiness on every surface below waist height.

Child seats come out so the seat underneath can be cleaned properly, because the base is where the worst of it sits. We put them back in the position we found them. If you would rather refit them yourself, tell us and we will leave them out for you.

Extraction matters more here than on any other car. A dried spill is in the carpet backing, not on the surface, and hot water pulled back through the pile is the only thing that gets it out.

A work vehicle is a tougher detail than a family car and it is usually further gone. Concrete splash on the sills, silicone smeared on a door handle, dust through every vent and a cab that has eaten lunch in it for three years.

Some of that comes off with the right chemistry and some of it does not. Set concrete on paint usually needs more than a detail, and we will tell you which is which rather than promise the lot.

Leather seats rarely wear out. They get dirty, the dirt gets rubbed into the grain by denim and body heat, and the seat goes from cream to grey along the bolster and the base. Most of what looks like wear is grime.

A proper leather clean uses a pH-balanced cleaner and a soft brush to lift that out of the grain, then a conditioner that feeds the hide rather than coating it in silicone shine. The seat should end up matte and soft, not glossy.

Where the top coat has genuinely cracked or worn through, cleaning will show it more clearly, not hide it. That is a repair, and we will say so.
