An Australian coating, which matters more than it sounds
Most of the coatings in this industry are formulated for northern hemisphere conditions and then sold here unchanged. Magnum is an Australian manufacturer, and their products are developed against the conditions cars here actually face: relentless UV, heat that turns a dark bonnet into a hotplate, and the summer cycle of blazing sun then afternoon storm that produces water spotting faster than almost any climate.
It also means support is local. When a question comes up about a guarantee or an inspection, it is resolved in this timezone rather than through a distributor.
The range, and which tier suits
Resolute G1+ is the entry ceramic, carrying a one year guarantee. It is available to the public as well as through detailers, and it is a sensible option on a lease car or one you are preparing to sell.
Obsidian S1+ is the graphene coating, measured at 9H, carrying a seven year guarantee when applied by an authorised detailer. This is the tier most keepers land on, and the graphene chemistry is the reason: less water spotting and better heat dissipation, which is exactly what a dark car parked outside in Sydney needs.
Luminous X carries a ten year guarantee, again only through an authorised detailer. It is the longest term we can issue on any product we fit.
There are also dedicated leather, alloy and glass coatings, each with their own one year guarantee, which are worth considering alongside the paintwork rather than instead of it.
What the guarantee actually requires
The long guarantees are conditional, and it is better to know that now than at year three.
Authorised application. Seven and ten year cover is only issued when the coating is applied by an authorised detailer. We hold that authorisation, which is why we can offer those terms.
Annual inspections. The car comes back once a year so the coating is checked and, where needed, maintained. Miss them and the guarantee lapses.
That second condition is a commitment on your part, and it is worth being honest that it suits some owners and not others. If you know you will not bring the car back, a shorter-term product you are not relying on is a better spend than a ten year guarantee you will void in year two.
Where Magnum sits against the others
We fit four coating brands, and having the authorisation on all of them means the recommendation follows the car rather than what we happen to stock.
Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra is the hardest and the most restricted, rated for up to nine years. System X is documented and inspected but its warranty does not transfer if you sell. Magnum’s Luminous X carries the longest term at ten years, and Obsidian S1+ brings graphene behaviour to a car that lives outdoors.

Preparation decides the outcome
Nothing about holding an authorisation changes the rule that runs through every page here. A coating cures over whatever is underneath it, so swirls left in the paint are sealed under a ten year guarantee for ten years.
Correction comes first, then a panel wipe to strip polishing oils so the coating bonds to bare paint. The guarantee covers the coating. It does not cover a decision to skip the preparation.
Common questions
Are you an authorised Magnum detailer?
Yes. That authorisation is what allows the seven year guarantee on Obsidian S1+ and the ten year guarantee on Luminous X to be issued at all. Without it those terms are not available, whoever applies the coating.
What is the longest guarantee you can offer?
Ten years, on Magnum Luminous X, applied by us as an authorised detailer and maintained with annual inspections. Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra is rated for up to nine years and is the harder coating, so the longest term and the hardest product are not the same choice.
What happens if I miss an annual inspection?
The guarantee lapses. It is the same structure across the industry for long-term cover, and it exists because a coating that is never looked at for a decade cannot reasonably be underwritten for one. We will remind you, but the responsibility sits with the owner.
Can I buy Magnum and apply it myself?
Resolute G1+ is available to the public. The longer-guarantee products are released to authorised detailers, and applying them yourself would not carry the seven or ten year terms regardless of how well the job went.
Is graphene worth it over the ceramic tier?
On a dark car parked outside, usually yes, because water spotting is the thing you will notice every day and graphene resists it better. On a garaged car the argument is weaker and we will say so rather than pushing you up a tier.
